Cinque Terre

In October I walked the Cinque Terre trail on Italy’s western coast from Riomaggiore to Monterosso

The recently opened Via dell’Amore (2024) starts the Cinque Terre route from Riomaggiore

The trail sections are short and most of the time is spent in the towns

The towns can also be reached by train if the weather does not allow for hiking. Logistics are simple with a train from the Milan Airport to access the coast. I visited in the beginning of the offseason in late October

The longest section of the trail includes some elevation gain coming out of Manarola and goes high along the coast. There was construction on the lower trail between Manarola and Corniglia (2025)
